Longmont Signage & Wayfinding Plan
Central to the success of any signage & wayfinding program is its ability to communicate a memorable, compelling, understandable, and authentic story about place. A great community wayfinding program not only highlights key attributes and destinations, it also creates an emotional bond with residents and visitors, and provides jurisdictional representatives with a solid foundation for marketing and promotion. Over the next few months, we will be working with the Longmont community to determine the locations, styles, and messages for new and retrofitted signage – please join us!
Project Goals:
- Design signage & wayfinding that helps direct residents and visitors throughout Longmont, its destinations and amenities
- Develop an implementation plan that outlines the costs and resources needed to implement the new signage & wayfinding designs

Replace street signs that no longer fluoresce at night. Several signs throughout the city are hard to read in the dark, which can be hazardous.

over 4 years agoCLOSED: This brainstormer has concluded.Sometimes groups that have a specific focus (biking groups, historic preservation groups, downtown merchant groups, etc.) have unique needs when it comes to signage and wayfinding. Are there any groups you’re part of that you’d like us to talk to one-on-one about signage? Or, if you’re part of a group with unique signage needs, can you tell us a little about those needs here?

Longmont already has signs installed in-and-around town. Artistic and sculptural gateways, auto signage that directs drivers to destinations, and informative and historic signs that help tell community stories. Are there any existing signs that you really like, or feel honor the character and sense of place in Longmont? If so, please tell us about them here.
