Project Context
The Sugar Factory + STEAM sub area planning project was launched by the City of Longmont in late 2021 to develop a vision for the area south of Downtown Longmont that stretches from the Ken Pratt Blvd & E 3rd Ave intersection to the East to Main St to the West.
The plan focuses on the following topics, while encompassing equity, sustainability, and resilience as guiding principles:
Land Use (mix of housing, commercial, community and other uses)
Urban Design (architecture and character)
Transportation (including bike and pedestrian connections)
Storm Drainage & Sustainable Infrastructure
This sub area planning effort built on previous work that was done for both the Sugar Factory and the STEAM areas, and will knit together this neighborhood and build on opportunities such as the proximity of the river, downtown, and transit.
